Educated Fools
I owe my good friend and fellow political blogger Mike O’Brien an apology. When he first wrote about the group Educators Against Mitch Daniels, I thought he was pulling an early April Fools Day prank, but they actually do exist on Facebook.
I visited the website and the last time there was that much whining going on there was brie and Camembert being served. I have never seen so many people who get paid to work 180 days out of the year complain about their lot in life.
Here are some of the posts and comments from the page…
- Lori Kemper Baker Mitch’s goal is to destroy public education in Indiana so that the private/charter schools will be for parents with resources, and the rest of the kids will be left with the scraps of what used to be the public system. A “FAPE” (Free Appropriate Public Education) for every child (not just the rich ones) is fundamental to America’s future!
- Sherri Pitts Geswein not only is this man ruining education for our kids and teachers he is also trying to privatize our local county government offices to the point that we will have no elected officials, only paid contractors. We have to stop this monster!!!
- Charles Walters Mitch Daniels has done everything in his power to dismantle public education. He has consistently taken money away from public education students and public education teachers. All he ever does is talk about how good private schools are and and how bad public schools are. He will try and take away all bargaining rights for teachers during the next legislative session if the House goes Republican. He is by far the worst governor we have ever had in terms of public education.
- Christopher Grove I’m not an educator but this man makes me sick. He is centralizing all facets of government right into Indianapolis. It’s plain as day he wants to break the teacher’s union and end collective bargaining. I’m a union man and I’ve spoke at open forums in my school district supporting you guys. We all as union brothers and sisters need to stick together and tell Mitch where he can stick his plans for Indiana!
The list goes on and on but you get the point. As much as I like teachers, in part because I am one, these guys need to get a grip and tape it to a clue. Times are tough all over for a lot of people. Regular people make sacrifices everyday in this economy. Deal with it.
Of course I could also suggest that if these complainers spent more time educating kids rather than posting on Facebook, maybe schools would get better results.
Just a thought.
